CLIA – The Alternative Therapy of Macular Degeneration
Age-related macular degeneration AMD is a prgressive eye disease which appears from the age of fiftieth. A distinction is made between a wet and a dry form.
A genetic predisposition, civilization-related metabolic disorders (such as hypertension, arteriosclerosis, diabetes) and oxidative stress are considered to be causes and risk factors. Only a small size of approx. 2mm² of the retina, the so-called macula lutea (“yellow macula” – spot of “sharpest vision“) is affected by a macula degeneration.
Depending on the form of the disease, this spot is affected by an infiltration of catabolic products deriving from the cell metabolism (glands) or by swellings of or bleedings into the retina. Consequences are an increasing loss of strength of vision accompanied by the perception of distorted lines, an increased blinding sensibility, contrast and color disturbances, central visual field loss and total loss of vision.
Eyeground: wet form of macular degeneration
Therapy options of the orthodox medicine are very limited. Apart from the application of large doses of micro nutritive substances (vitamins, trace elements), only the wet form of macular degeneration allows to positively influence the course by injecting certain medical preparations directly into the eye. This therapy, however, is very expensive and usually has to be repeated several times. Success cannot be promised.
The therapy concept of Combined Laserneedle and Implant Acupuncture CLIA developed by Dr. Kreisel can be used for both forms of the disease and now opens up new perspectives for patients affected by this disease. The aim is to improve the cell metabolism in the eye. On the basis of a special eye acupunture, several acu points on the ear, scalp and body are first treated intensively with metal needles and laserneedles. In order to achieve long-term effects, a terminal frequency-modulated implant acupuncture® is carried out. An intravenous laser therapy and a cell milieu revitalization CMR to activate the metabolism and the prescription of micro nutritive substances complement this therapy.
