Both implant needles and materials have been constantly advanced for the past years. The products undergo stringent quality controls, are packaged individually and sterile, and are well tolerated by the tissue.
IMPLAX® implant needles have been available since 2004. They are made of medical grade titanium, are certified according to the CE standard and are approved as a class 2B (permanent implants) medical product. The needles remain permanently in the ear.
In 2007 and 2009, the TEMPLAX® and TEMPLAX quint® implant needle made from an absorbable polymer (Resomer®: based on lactic and glycolic acid) became available on the market. These needles resolve themselves totally after about 15 to 20 months and stimulate acupuncture points for a limited time. The dissolution process intensifies the biogenetic effect of the needle.
